Divi, from Elegant Themes, is one of the most popular premium WordPress themes used today. With the latest major release of Divi 4.0, this multipurpose theme will add some game-changing new features in 2021. While Elegant themes have always updated and improved its flagship theme,  the latest update takes WordPress development to the next level. Divi features a robust theme-building tool, a huge selection of website templates, new customisation options, and much more.p

WordPress powers at least a third of all the sites on the internet worldwide. With the right theme, you can harness the power of the world’s biggest and most powerful content management system. The right theme can also give your WordPress site a stunning appearance and a quick, satisfying user experience across all computers and devices.

Let’s examine the best features of this dynamic WordPress theme.

WordPress Divi Theme Best Features

Quality Pre-Designed Templates

Whether you intend to build a WordPress site from scratch or need a ready-made template, Divi has you covered.

Divi arguably has the biggest selection of quality templates of any WordPress theme available today. For those who need extra help or are short on time, the wide range of site types the templates cover is immensely helpful. There are templates for many types of businesses, interests, and hobbies. If you’re building an e-commerce store? They’ve got templates for those too.

Instead of the library of individual templates you normally get with multipurpose themes, Divi provides pre-designed templates in layout packs. The packs are designed to help you develop a specific type of site and include base page templates for about, home, and contact. There are templates for landing pages too, so you can quickly be up and running with your new site.

The best part? You’re not married to just one layout pack with Divi. You can choose any available layout pack for your website for great convenience. The layouts can be edited allowing you to tinker and tailor for a custom design. If you want to use the layout as is? Just change the text and photos in the content editor.

The Theme Builder

At the heart of the update is this dynamic tool. The theme builder elevates Divi 4.0 from a mere page builder to an actual theme builder. The incredible versatility the tool offers is without equal.

This powerful drop-and-drag editor offers several great features, including:

  • Ability to generate custom theme templates.
  • Ability to generate recyclable sections for use on a site.
  • Action history panel for ease in redoing and undoing actions.
  • A wide selection of content modules.
  • Different viewpoints for previewing how content will appear on different devices.
  • Wireframe mode to provide an overview of page structure.
  • WYSIWYG visual editor for the design of custom page designs.

This theme builder is a powerful tool that gives you full creative control over your Divi website. It allows you to add Divi builder layouts to thousands of product pages and existing posts. You can apply the edit globally instead of having to edit every individual post or page. Once your layout is created, you can apply it across the entire site even if the existing site wasn’t built using Divi.

You can build custom layouts using the theme building tool, including body, headers, and footers. It allows you to craft your own structure and easily add content. You can design multiple versions of elements to deploy site-wide or individual ones for posts and pages you specify. You can build your layouts independently with the ability to enable and disable them whenever you want.

With the ability to copy, paste, drag, and drop, you’re free to create the site you envision. You can even export your templates as a collection or individually for use in other projects. You’re not limited in how many you can create and can make assignments in Template Settings. They can be duplicated, deleted, and excluded. They can be assigned to posts, pages, product pages, projects, archive pages, 404 pages, and even WooCommerce pages.

The Divi Leads Optimisation Tool

If you need to determine which version of a page or an element on your site performs best, you can use Divi’s split-testing tool. The Divi Leads Optimisation Tool is easy to use and not a feature you commonly find integrated within a WordPress theme. Usually, it’s a function you have to add with a plugin or third-party service.

In Divi Builder, you select which element on the page you’d like to test. Which version of a call-to-action button performs better? Enable Divi Leads for that element and create an alternate version of the button. This dynamic split-testing tool shows one part of your audience the original button and the alternative version to another group.

With a specific goal set, getting visitors to click on the call-to-action button on a landing page, the test gathers data for you to determine which element got the best conversion rate.

The split-testing tool doesn’t limit you to just single comparisons. You can test multiple variants to optimise your content for the best results. Simultaneous tests work just fine, so you can optimise the entire site and greatly increase its effectiveness and visibility.

Modules

Modules are the building blocks used by WordPress themes that allow you to add functionality and style to your site. There are 46 modules included standard with Divi. The regular width sections have 37 modules designed for them with nine more specifically for full-width sections. Many third-party vendors have created premium modules that can also be added.

Each module within Divi Builder lets you easily add specific content types to your website. You can add everything from pricing tables and testimonials to contact forms and portfolios without having to know any code.

Simply add a module to the Divi Builder, and you can customise it using your own style and content within its settings. You can drag and drop modules anywhere on a given page and save the configuration to use on other pages and websites.

Customer Headers and Footers

With Divi Builder, you can design customer headers using any module and style them just like the layouts. You can make headers for global use or for specific pages and posts. You can even apply a box-shadow, so the header visually stands out.

Many of the Divi layouts include footers, but you can also alter them the same way as the headers. You just have to load the layout into the builder tool and delete any components you don’t want. Then customise the ready-made footer to suit your tastes and needs.

The Blog Module

The blog module in Divi got some new features in the latest release. With the new post loop and filtering options, you have more control in customising your post feeds. The feature is highly useful for index and category pages. It also comes in handy when you want to show related posts at the end of an article or column.

You can now display more blog posts with the upgraded blog module. With the new Post Type feature, you can choose the type of content shown. You can choose between pages, posts, products, projects, or custom post types.

The Menu Module

Designed for the theme builder and header area, the menu module is new. It can also be conveniently used in the Divi Builder.

With this new module, you can add any navigation menu in any location on your site. Pick your menu, add a logo, and enable desired elements like search, shopping cart, and more. You can make adjustments to the alignment and its menu dropdown direction. You can also combine the menu with other modules to create innovative design elements.

Archive Pages

The ability to create blog feeds has always been available in Divi. When you clicked on a category or tag or entered a search, those posts would appear in the standard WordPress feed loop. Now you have control over feed loops with category pages and category designs. With this feature, category pages use the blog module function as the blog page and show posts based on categories and more.

You can take it a step further and design custom layouts that can be assigned to all archive, author, category, date, project category, project tags, product tags, and tag pages or to specific ones. You can also exclude any pages you don’t want to include.

WooCommerce Updates

For those interested in developing a WooCommerce site or wanting to refresh an existing one, Divi can be used to create global product pages. Divi’s WooCommerce module allows you to display dynamic content to show a new product and project the product site-wide within the layout.

Each product in your WooCommerce store will use the layout you assign. You have the ability to exclude any products, product categories, and product tags. You can even exclude all products and the products archive page.
