Running your own online business from home seems like the ultimate dream idea, right?

Whilst the grass can always seem greener, we thought we would weigh in and examine the Pros and Cons of running an online business from home.

Here are our Top 3 Pros and Cons for running an online business from home:

The Pros for Running An Online Business from Home

1. Be Your Own Boss!
Oh, the freedom! No more nasty Bosses staring over your shoulder. No more annoying work colleagues to pester you all day either. Yes, being your own boss means you can work for yourself! So embrace your business and be the Worlds Best Boss!

2. Beat the Commute
Say goodbye to the 2 hours spend battling the daily peak hour traffic. Start thinking about what else you could do with those extra 2 hours every day! That is an extra 500 Hours every year you get back into your life to put into surfing, swimming, golfing, relaxing etc.

3. Embrace your new flexible life
Working from home can give you more time with your loved ones and precious pets. It also allows you to be far more flexible. From booking dentist appointments, through to parcel deliveries, working your hours at home can certainly make your life a whole lot easier.

The Cons for Running An Online Business from Home

1. Beware the isolation
Remember those pesky work colleagues who had annoyed you so much? Well… funnily, they gave you something to enjoy during your work day. Working from home can be very rewarding. However, you need to expect some isolation. How you embrace it will directly impact your happiness and your ability to work from home effectively.

2. Ignore the judgement
As a warning, you will occasionally encounter people who assume that by working from home, you don’t work hard enough and aren’t really working a serious job. The key is to ignore them and keep on with your work. Imagining them stuck in peak-hour traffic usually does the trick.

3. Distraction and Procrastination
Ok, whilst you were in the workplace, you had a boss, deadlines and constant judgement of your progress. More importantly, you were miles from the distractions of home. Distraction and procrastination are two performance killers that must be identified and eradicated. Working from home means, if anything, you need to be more dedicated than ever to your work.
